Harry Thompson Funeral Services was first established in 1991 by Harry himself with the support of his wife Margaret and their eldest son Mark. Their youngest son Richard joined them later.

The first office opened in Hinderwell but only a few months later the business moved to High St in Loftus not far from where the premises are today.

After two years Harry purchased the old Trillo’s café and conversion of the premises into a funeral parlour went under way. The funeral home is as we know it today with, office and Mortuary and, a comfortable room for families to visit and make their arrangements, along with two chapels of rest for visiting their loved ones.

Ten years ago saw the opening of our Saltburn Office, designed on the same principal of the Loftus office to make all of our families feel as comfortable as possible when visiting us. It is also here that we run Saltburn Memorials for those families who wish to arrange a memorial for their loved one’s graves.

In 2021 Harry along with the support of his family purchased the Mars Inn in Loftus in order to expand the business further. Work is currently under way to convert the premises to a funeral home with the usual facilities, but with the added addition of a chapel to allow families to have their own private funeral service for their loved ones. In addition, there will be ample parking which can be a challenge where we are currently situated.

We hope to be opening our new premises by the summer of 2022 and will keep you all updated with the progress.
